Fabuliss Helps Avonelle with Remote Styling for Winter Boots

November 24, 2010

If you co-exist with snow for the winter like Fabuliss client Avonelle, having a great pair of boots that can transition from outdoors to indoors is essential.

She recently contacted me for help narrowing down to a few choices.

Here’s what happened:

  1. We Skyped for about 15 minutes so she could tell me what she was looking for in terms of price range, style, heel height, color and functionality.
  2. I shopped online (Nordstrom & Endless.com) and narrowed my selections down to 10.
  3. The above snapshot is an example of one of the boots in her PDF, including a link to the boot, the price and a few notes and considerations.

With 10 boots to choose from, Avonelle can either buy one (or more) of the boots I recommend or shop on her own now that she has ideas and information to guide her.

This process took place over several days and can usually be done with a 24-hour turnaround.

Fit & Style Analysis and Closet Review for Men

November 18, 2010

Joel Carlson, a social media marketing professional, continues learning about the technical details for his style makeover.  Now that he knows his best colors, he is ready to learn about the best styles for his body type and begin applying that to what he already owns.

When it comes to men and style, knowing the right types of styles from straight-front to pleated pants and long jackets or short jackets, can make a huge difference in terms of height, weight and body balance.

And when it comes to color, a set of swatches ensures that you are the star of the show and not your clothes.

For our third, and final installment of this makeover series for men, Fabuliss will go shopping with Joel.  Stay tuned!

Every Woman Needs a Copy of This Book! Want to Win a Copy?

March 13, 2010

Earlier this week, I was between appointments and stopped in to Barnes & Noble.  I always browse the Beauty & Fashion section to consider books to add to my library.

I picked up Bradley Bayou’s The Science of Sexy: Dress to Fit Your Unique Figure with the Style System That Works for Every Shape and Size with a whole list of nonsensical expectations.  It turns out, I discovered a gold mine!

Here are my top 10 reasons you must read this book:

  1. It starts out by addressing our essence, which is that we all want to be desirable
  2. Bayou knows what he’s talking about…he is a couture designer who has dressed all body types, including Oprah, Queen Latifah, Kristin Davis and Paula Abdul
  3. The book covers all of the things I have had to learn the hard way – trial and error
  4. There is detailed information for how to dress (and how not to dress) 48 real body shapes
  5. It’s easy to find your body shape – height, 4 easy measurements and weight
  6. There is a visual glossary of terms showing and explaining a variety of items like a godet skirt and a gored skirt
  7. There are tips to camouflage specific anxiety areas
  8. It outlines 10 “dress sexy” commandments all women should heed
  9. There is a perfect balance of easy-to-read advice and imagery
  10. You can reference it with your current body and as your body changes

Buy this book now, or sign up for the Fabuliss eNewsletter on Fabuliss.com for a chance to win a copy of the book.  Sign up now!  I will draw from everyone who signed up for the eNewsletter in March and will notify the winner via email at the beginning of April.
